Rev.
William De Young is the pastor of Harlingen Church. He became the pastor at Harlingen
in 1998, after serving a congregation in northwest Iowa for nineteen years.
He was ordained in the Reformed Church in America in 1969. He also holds
a Master's Degree in Counseling from South Dakota State University, earned
in 1992.
He and his wife Diane are the parents of two sons. Kirk is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He and his
wife Joanna live in Wisconsin. Kristopher is a
graduate of the Veterinary College of the University of Illinois.
Pastor De Young was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. His parents
had eleven children. Today he has more than 40 nieces and nephews scattered
around the country. He enjoys reading (especially history), photography,
walking, and traveling.
Diane was born and grew up in Albany, New York. She has one brother who
still lives in the Albany area, one niece and two nephews. Diane enjoys
reading, gardening, cats (she's never seen an ugly cat yet!), and traveling.
Pastor De Young and Diane graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
They continue to enjoy vacationing in western Michigan, where they
connect with many family members and long-time friends.
