Forty Days of Community
A year ago we conducted a "40 Days of Purpose" campaign at Harlingen Church. Together we read Rick Warren's book, "The Purpose Driven Life," which has now sold 26 million copies worldwide. This Fall we will conduct a "40 Days of Community" campaign at Harlingen Church. Last Fall we asked the question, "What on earth am I here for?" This year we will ask the question, "What on earth are we here for?" And we will be reminded of the fact that "We are better together!" Like last year, there are 3 components to the "40 Days of Community" campaign. We will worship together on Sunday mornings. You will be encouraged to read Rick Warren's book, "Better Together," one small chapter per day. And you will be invited to join a Small Group that will meet once a week for six weeks. Campaign Kick-off Our campaign will begin on Saturday, October 7th, with a Kick-Off Dinner at 6:30 p.m. And it will end on Sunday, November 19th, with a Community Celebration at 10 a.m. We hope that you and your family will participate fully in this campaign! The purpose of 40 Days of Community
is to deepen our community at Harlingen Church and to serve the communities around Harlingen Church!
Projects
So, here is something all of us can do before we begin our campaign. We can begin to think about service projects we can undertake in our communities. These projects should be doable, and they should be the kinds of tasks that can be done in one day. These can be projects that are undertaken by the whole congregation or by our Small Groups.
