Summer 2008 Youth Mission Trips
Summer 2008 Mission Trips
We are offering two options for summer 2008, here they are:
1) Challenge Workcamp, Machias, Maine
Senior High (ages 14+) -- July 5-12 (1 space is left, home repairs, decks, ramps, weatherstripping, painting)
On July 5, 23 people will head to Machias, Maine, for our annual mission trip. Machias is located on the coast, as far north ("downeast") as you can go and still be in the USA. We will be joining 350 other intrepid travelers from all over, to make improvements in the lives of elderly, disabled and disadvantaged residents. We will return on July 12. We will not be the same individuals who left the week before. Yes, the names will be the same, and we may even look the same, but we will have been changed.
Those who are going are: Pastor Bill and Diane; Carl and Megan Arguell; Betty and Vicky Coram; Alex Garney; Alex's cousin, Devon Payeur-Narine; Steve Davis; the Davis's neighbors, Bob and Matt Jerzewski; the entire Hendrickson family; Bob and Carol Skubik; Carla Ramos (friend of Megan Soltis), the only youth who has gone on all the trips; Jack Hunt; LisaRenee and Christian Benz; Phillip Ai, from East Brunswick (his mother found the church website and the description of the SD trip); and myself.
Please pray for safe and easy travels for us, for good weather while we are working, for wonderful companions while we work, but mostly, please pray that everything we do will glorify God.
We thank you for your support, financial and otherwise, and we look forward to telling you about our adventures when we return.
God is good............all the time!

Machias is the kind of New England town you might see on a postcard—a swift river running past framed houses and church steeples nestled amidst colorful hardwoods, close enough to the Atlantic to smell the salt air. It’s located in the eastern-most corner of the U.S., so you get to see the sunrise before 99% of the country! But Machias is also a town that has seen a decline in local businesses and suffered the pains of economic hardships. The Northeast’s famous harsh winters are extremely damaging to Maine’s homes, and almost 40% of the quaint homes in Machias were built before 1940, which means there is a lot of scraping and painting, nailing and replacing to be done. You can have the chance this summer to make those winter chills a distant memory, and warm the hearts of these hearty and friendly Maine residents.
2) Week of Hope - Newark,
NY
Must be going
into 8th grade (or older) July 13-18. I have reserved 10 spaces, non-construction work
